The Third Round: The Text is psychoactive – it can give us a direct experience in what we are reading about

Genesis 45

1. And Joseph could not restrain himself before all that were standing by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from with me. And there stood not anyone with him while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren.
2. And he gave forth his voice in weeping; and the Egyptians heard, and the house of Pharaoh heard.
3. And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were in consternation before him.
4. And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come ye near to me I pray. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.
5. And now be not grieved, neither let there be anger in your eyes, that ye sold me hither; for God did send me before you to make to live.

Third Round posts are short audio clips taken from Round 3 comments offered in the online Logopraxis Life Group meetings. The aim is to keep the focus on understanding the Text in terms of its application to the inner life along with reinforcing any key LP principles that have been highlighted in the exchanges.

I think that your notion of the malfunctioning garage door is a great example of the “self” using an otherwise perfectly innocuous “natural” scenario to flood the mind with falsities [this happened because you did, said, thought, lusted evils] which are infused in an attempt to deny the Lord’s Providence and His Mercy. And the Own would love to have me believe that Celestial Regenerate people never experience faulty garage doors. I was recently led to the following number in AC 215: That man’s Own is nothing but evil and falsity has been made evident to me from the fact… Read more »

I’ve been collecting numbers recently on the difference between angels and those in hell around the idea that the angels know what they are without the Lord and that those in hell have no acknowledgement of that. Here is a lovely one confirming for me that angels do indeed see and thus experience their proprial states aka their reactions instead of responses to pesky garbage doors lol DLW 114. Not only is the Lord in heaven but He also is heaven itself, because love and wisdom make the angel, and these two with angels are the Lord’s. Hence it follows… Read more »

I find this question of the proprium a real struggle, because it’s evil tendencies are clear and without doubt. As well though, I have been given a sense of self which appears to have a purpose of value to the Lord and His creation, and which seems to be essential to freedom…..I was reading George de Charms “The Proprium” recently, where he says “Nevertheless, this appearance (proprium) is the greatest, the most precious and the most miraculous of all God’s gifts to man…..”. So what kind of relationship with the proprium is being asked of me?

Hi Liz. I find this number very useful regarding the proprium – its my kinda go to number on it. I think it speaks to the idea that the sense of self can be can be a gift because of what we see in it and of the different relationships we can have with it depending on which loves are active or if you like, which level of the mind is active (the ‘man’ being the ‘mind’). AC 141. Innumerable things might be said about man’s proprium in describing its nature with the corporeal and worldly man, with the spiritual… Read more »
