Charity: The first of charity is to look to the Lord and shun evils because they are sins. Doctrine of life #23 1) If a man wills and does goods before he shuns evils as sins, the goods are not good. 2) If a man thinks and speaks pious things while not shunning evils as sins, the pious things are not pious. 3) If a man knows and is wise in many things, and does not shun evils as sins, he is nevertheless not wise. This prompted questions .. “is my motive the love of self”. Over the two week… Read more »
6828 for he who is in temptation is in vastation and in desolation, because the falsity and evil in him come out and darken and almost take away the influx of truth and good from the Lord; and the truth which flows in does not appear to him to have sufficient life to disperse the falsities and evils. Moreover, evil spirits are then present, who inject grief, and despair of salvation. 6834 The case herein is this. The Divine good of the Divine love is the very solar fire in the other life, which fire is so ardent that if… Read more »
Spending a week with my five siblings has been an amazing experience and I have felt and been surrounded by love. An amazing harmonious experience. Even the weather has obliged to be dry and sunny at the times we needed it. It has made me more open to seeing the Lord working in our lives. The way we become more of who we were as little children, as the Lord made us and the complexity of our lives as they unfold and are entwined with those we know and love.
ACV9 6832:3 That “flame” denotes love Divine is because love in its first origin is nothing else than fire and flame from the Lord as a sun. It is the fire or flame of this sun which gives the being of life to every man; and it is the vital fire itself which fills the interiors of man with heat, as can be seen from love, for in proportion as love increases with man, he grows warm, and in proportion as love decreases, he grows cold. AC6832:9 they who do not know that the fire of life in man is… Read more »
I noticed that my states of warmth from the Lord’s love are comprised of subtle feelings that present more like a gentle glow within me. They feel like open, vulnerable states which engender willingness to connect with the neighbour to share & grow in wisdom & appreciation. Even feelings of compassion & the poignancy of pathos have fire in them; the low burning flame of inclusiveness & reaching out. This is in contrast to the high burn of protective zeal for example, which did not present during the period of my task. The question that came up for me during… Read more »
The observation of subtle feelings, open and vulnerable, moves me to make efforts to go deeper in being awake to the variations of love for the Lord that rise within. Thank you.
Thank you Liz, for your feedback. I’m still getting used to this group aspect of Logopraxis – taking the time to read people’s contributions on this forum as well as listening in my Zoom group.

6834. ‘And the bramble bush was not at all being consumed’ means Divine Truth united to Divine Good in the natural. This is clear from the meaning of ‘the bramble bush’ as true factual knowledge… but in this instance as Divine Truth in the natural, since the description has reference to the Lord (the natural is meant because there truth takes the form of factual knowledge); and from the meaning of ‘not being consumed by the fire’ as not being reduced to nothing by the good of Divine Love, ‘fire’ being the good of Divine Love… 6833. ‘And he saw,… Read more »
6818. One governed by good is pre-eminently the neighbour, which means that the good present with a person is what one should love. For when one loves good one loves the Lord since the Lord is the One from whom Good comes, who is present within Good, and who is Good itself.
Task: Look for the good in people.
Each day spend a few minutes remembering the good qualities of a particular person.

Submission: A fierce resistance was experienced when the Text revealed that: long held historical beliefs were unhelpful and needed to be let go of. Owned ‘sense of self’ was under fire and not succumbing without a fight!! Loves long held, too, were under threat!! Only returning to the Text from a place of deep despair and humility (“self” cannot do this or even see what needs doing) began to bring some peace and a realisation that this is all part of the process, under the Lord’s Divine Providence and a blessing to be revealed and providing a huge opportunity to… Read more »

6832.10. …there is a heavenly fire radiating from the Lord as a Sun and that this fire is pure love. …..there are countless manifestations of in the human being who is an organ made to receive that fire.
Task: Be awake to recognizing this in others and cultivate looking for it in myself.

AC 6836. I will therefore go aside, and see this great vision. That this signifies reflection on this revelation, is evident from the signification of “going aside and seeing,” as being to reflect, for in the spiritual sense “to go aside” denotes to turn aside from the present thought; and “to see” denotes to perceive, thus both expressions together denote to reflect; and from the signification of a “vision,” as being revelation (see n. 6000). It is called a “great vision,” because in the supreme sense by the “flame in the bramble” is signified the Divine truth united to the… Read more »

6829: and came to the mountain of God. That this signifies that the good of love Divine then appeared is evident from the signification of the “mountain of God” as being the good of love Divine…That this good appeared after they had undergone temptation is signified by his coming to that mountain behind the wilderness….But when the man emerges from temptation, then the light appears with its spiritual heat, that is truth with its good, and from this he has gladness from anxiety. Observations: The Wilderness state is showing me a new form of impatience which often looks like enthusiasm, but which is actually very self-centred, and can be very unsettling. I’m beginning to recognise how it swallows opportunity, undermines trust; allowing no space for choice, allowing no space for internal listening…..just proprium trying to get in first! But the primary element revealed by the task is a historical and existential fear of extinction – going to my very roots, which is undoubtedly an embedded aspect of our natural human urge to survive…..but maybe more than that. And in this particular Wilderness, the… Read more »

When I read the Text with a desire to apply it to my life, and do the Work, the Grief, Despair and Hopelessness recede. When I am identifying with the noise of the proprium, I am entering a wilderness state of self-inflicted hopelessness from a Forgetfulness of where my conscious being stems from. The appearance was that there is no state of equilibrium. The reality is that the Word is “Reading me” and exposes the state of denial that is the infernal proprium. In our last session an idea was shared describing a rhythm that sits in a space between… Read more »
