Thank you David for the clarification on what is meant by Those who can not be regenerated being the infernal proprium. This raises a question for me, and one would think that after being married for 44 years I would know the answer. And if my wife were still here I certainly would ask her. With reference to removing person from the equation, what then is Conjugial Love? It certainly manifests through another “person”. And my wife certainly had many many beautiful attributes which manifested through her astoundingly beautiful “person”. Is it seeing and being in love with the beauty… Read more »
Hi Ian Conjugial love is the love of joining complements – masculine and feminine, good and truth, love and wisdom, charity and faith, the Lord and the Word, the Lord and the Church, heart and lungs, internal and external. It is an active love… in that sense conjugial love is a verb. This is an excerpt from a paper I’ve written which I’ll send to you. Since wisdom pertains to life and thence to reason, as said above, the question arises, What is wisdom of life? Hi Ian – the idea of removing person has to do with what’s given priority – so to remove person from our thought about another has more to do with moving the focus on person so that natural qualities are moved to the periphery and spiritual qualities to the centre rather than “getting rid of” persons. David, can you please offer some examples of this in application – like wha does a natural quality look like in application in our mind vs a spiritual or celestial one?
Is the quality held to be from the Lord or from self? Do we attribute it to person or do we see in the case of positive qualities the Lord? Where positive or heavenly qualities are concerned it is attribution that determines whether it sits with us as something natural or something spiritual or something celestial. A quality will be natural when attributed to self/person, it will be spiritual where “person” (attribution to self or another) still features but there is a intellectual acknowledgement that it is from the Lord and an effort is being made not to own it… Read more »
Yes that’s lovely. Thank you. The last part reminds me of what a ‘name’ is in heaven… influx + form of mind = name ie. quality expressed of the Lord
Hi David,
Thank you for these insights. There is now some clarity flowing in with regard to many of my wife’s beatiful attributes which I am in love with. And I now see that the peaceful disposition, soft and gentle manner, loving and caring heart are tangible qualities from the Lord flowing through her beautiful form, which I so terribly miss on this natural plane.
