That this signifies that thereby mere fallacies and the derivative falsities will reign among them, is evident from the signification of a “serpent,” as being the sensuous and bodily (see n. 6949), thence fallacies, for the sensuous and bodily, separated from the rational, that is, not subordinate to it, is full of fallacies, so that it is scarcely anything but fallacies (see n. 6948, 6949). 7293:2 In these passages by a “whale” are signified memory-knowledges in general, by which, because they are from the sensuous man, the things that belong to faith are perverted.… Read more »
My task has reminded me to soften my truth & judgement orientated personality traits in dealing with a close neighbour. Questioning a person’s inner landscape & motivations is the oppisite of what the Lord invites us to do: to see & join to the good in others, while excusing their unconscious behaviors. To celebrate their different strengths to mine. This is a fresh take on how my neighbour must feel to be questioned all the time, as I was unconsciously doing in the recent past. Relationships suffer under constant scrutiny. I noticed that a critical perspective of others really does… Read more »

Be it further known that it is according to the laws of order that no one ought to be persuaded about truth in a moment, that is to say, that truth should be so confirmed in a moment as to leave no doubt whatever about it; because the truth which is so impressed becomes persuasive truth, and is devoid of any extension, and also of any yielding quality. Such truth is represented in the other life as hard, and as such that it does not admit good into it so as to become applicable.” Principle: Truth needs to… Read more »

ACV9S25-Len #7291… “That the law Divine which Moses represents flowed into the doctrine which Aaron represents, is because the law Divine is internal truth, and doctrine is external truth; and it is a general rule that internal things flow into external things, and not vice versa, because internal things are purer and simple in comparison, while external things are gross, for they are the generals of internal things.” Task: To work to see if I operate from the law Divine or doctrine. 7290 [1] Correspondences, representatives, and meaningful signs link the natural world to the spiritual world. 7290 [2] The internal constituents of worship, which are faith and charity, must be implanted in freedom; for then they make them their own and what they make their own in this way remains, whereas what is implanted under compulsion remains outside the internal man, in the external man. This is because nothing passes into the internal man except by way of ideas seen in the understanding, that is, seen rationally, since the soil which receives what is implanted in the internal man is enlightened… Read more »

7298.2 In addition it should be recognized that it is in accordance with the laws of order that no one should become convinced of the truth instantaneously, that is, should instantaneously be made so sure of the truth that he is left in no doubt about it. The reason for this is that when truth is impressed on a person in that kind of way, he becomes so fully convinced of it that it cannot be broadened in any way or qualified in any way.
Task: Work on being less judgmental.
7298. And they cast every man his rod, and they became water-serpents. That this signifies power from order that they became dull in respect to the noticing of truth, is evident from the signification of “casting a rod,” as being the exhibition of power; and from the signification of “water-serpents,” as being falsities from fallacies, here dullness in respect to the noticing of truth, for in proportion as fallacies cause truths not to be noticed, so is dullness induced. Such dullness is also induced by magicians in the other life, and this by the abuse and perversion of order, for… Read more »
When is my mind dull in thinking about truth?
· When I forget my task
· When I think I am in control of my life
· When I think too much about myself.
What falsities are being presented to me as truths?
· What I feel is more important than what others are feeling.
· I have to do everything on my own.
Am I looking for the falsities in my mind?
· I am very good at avoiding this with many excuses.
· Sometimes I see a falsity, but my own feelings override what I know I should not do or say.
Principle: AC 7293 – The sensuous and the bodily, if separated from the rational, is not subordinate and is full of fantasies and fallacies from memory knowledge.
Task: Observe states that aren’t kept in check by rational truths and notice the kind / quality of fantasies, fallacies, and memory-knowledges that become salient in awareness.

Observations: The task shows many things, but in the end, shows how centred I am on self. Can the understanding only change, rise higher – when the thought identifies self with it, as a personal experience? Without that, is it just theory? Or another option?
