ACV9 7056 [3] From the following considerations it may be further known how the case is with the conjunction in question. The truth proceeding immediately from the Divine enters into the will of man, this is its way; but the truth which proceeds mediately from the Divine enters into the understanding of man; and therefore conjunction cannot be effected unless the will and the understanding act as a one, that is, unless the will wills good, and the understanding confirms it by truth. When therefore there is conjunction, then the Lord appears as present, and His presence is perceived; but… Read more »

Corrected Spiritual Principle: I feel the Lord draw near to me when I act on His influx into my will confirmed by the truth of doctrine held in my understanding. Instruction in the minutae of the doctrine or secrets of heaven, then flows into me from above. Summary: Reminded myself of what arises when the Lord draws near to me, from our teachings. Charity, spiritual security, inner rest, tranquility, quietness. Also, I focused in on the statement that ‘I act on His influx into my will’ with new awareness. In general I am experiencing this flow into my will or… Read more »

AC 7055 ….. As to this conjunction, be it known that there may be with a man truth proceeding mediately from the Divine, and yet it may not be conjoined with the truth which proceeds immediately from the Divine. …..Such conjunction rarely exists with man, but it does so with all who are in heaven, especially with those who are in the inmost or third heaven; nor does it exist with a man unless he has been so far regenerated as to be capable of being elevated from the sensuous even toward his rational, and thus of being set in the… Read more »

7064 “And did the signs before the eyes of the people” means a corroboration suited to the ability to grasp things. This is clear from the meaning of “the signs” as the corroboration of truths and thus a knowledge of them; and from the meaning of “the eyes’ as the powers of inner sight or the understanding, so that “before the eyes” means suited to people’s understanding or ability to grasp things. 7065 “And the people believed and heard” means faith and hope. This is clear from the meaning of “believing” as believing in a spiritual sense which is faith… Read more »

7053: “And Jehovah said to Aaron…..for all doctrine is of truth, because doctrine treats of truth and the good thence derived, which is called the doctrine of faith; and of good, and the truth thence derived, which is called the doctrine of charity; but both are of truth.

7054: Go to meet Moses. That this signifies that it should be conjoined immediately from the Divine.

Task:
Reflect on this whole section, and seek to understand. Make efforts to be awake, opening to the affection recieved when reading the Word; is there a sense of conjunction given while exploring truths.

Submission:
A major focus during the session has been the difference, as personal experience, between the immediate and the mediated; between faith and charity experienced in life; and the difference between living from the external self to the internal self. Trying to be sensitive to these shifting states in the moment. There has been constant delight mixed into this, in the effort to Remember; and amusement at the proprial assumption of any real possibility. But even without a clear result, the effort in itself has opened to something deeper. Gratitude.

Reading over the section on the spirits of Mercury again I realised that they describe the rigid attitude that needs to be softened. I work to keep my body flexible, and for my age I have a lot more flexibility than the average person. But in examining my mind I have noticed that there is a lot of rigidity there. My proprium tells me that I am a fairly tolerant person but on further observation a lot of first reactions to things were noted that were the opposite and quite rigid and “I know what is right!” Pretty conceited like… Read more »

AC7056. And he went, and met him in the mountain of God. That this signifies conjunction in the good of love there, is evident from the signification of “meeting,” or “coming to meet,” as being conjunction (of which just above, n. 7054); and from the signification of “the mountain of God,” as being the good of Divine love (see n. 6829). The case herein is this. The conjunction of the truth proceeding immediately from the Divine with the truth which proceeds mediately, is not possible except in good, for good is the very soil. Truths are seeds, which do not… Read more »

AC 7055: Into the wilderness. That this signifies where previously it is not so, namely, conjunction, is evident from the signification of “wilderness,” as being where as yet there is little vitality (see n. 1927), thus where there is no good and the derivative truth (n. 4736), for thence is vitality; here, where there is no conjunction of the truth proceeding immediately from the Divine with the truth proceeding immediately. .. [2] But as this matter is secret, it shall be illustrated by examples. With those who think and teach according to the doctrine of their church confirmed in themselves,… Read more »

Submission: In focusing on the desire for conjunction, the hearing, believing, obeying, hope and humility, the proprial opposites presented. There was an incessant, noisy harassment, attempting to snatch away what was in and from the text, and replacing it with feelings of doubt, hopelessness, fear and sadness. I especially noticed it during a lengthy kayak trip on the lake behind my house on an absolutely beautiful cool breezy day, with clear skies and white puffy clouds. And they attacked again during a Journey group with friends, as we were engaging with the part of the Lord’s prayer on Forgiveness of… Read more »

AC 7065: He who is in faith and obedience perceives confirmations and from this he derives hope.

Task: In the course of daily events and interactions, be aware of when I’m acting in accordance with divine commandments and observe a sense of confirmation or a perception of hopeful experiences within my mind.

Here are 3 examples of using with the ‘substitution tool” that I worked with in preparation for the workshop on the weekend. We looked at the first one in workshop 2. 7055(2). With thoseSTATES whoTHAT think and teach according to the doctrine of their church/UNDERSTANDING AND LOVE OF THE LORD/WORD OR HISTORICAL FAITH confirmed in themselves, and do not know whether they are truths from any other ground than the fact that they are from the doctrine of the churchUNDERSTANDING AND LOVE OF THE LORD/WORD OR HISTORICAL FAITH and that they have been delivered by learned and enlightened men/MEMORY KNOWLEDGES/HISTORICAL FAITH&TRUTH, there can be… Read more »

And one more – this one relates to the Lord in the world . 7058.3] It is said truth proceeding immediately from the Divine of the Lord, although in the internal sense the subject here treated of is the LordTHE WORD when HeIT wasIS in the worldNATURAL MIND, and when HeIT called/CALLLS upon His FatherTHE DIVINE ITSELFas separate from HimselfTUE WORD. But how the case herein is, has been occasionally told before, namely, that the Divine Itself, or Jehovah, wasCAN BE in HimTHE WORD , for He wasIS conceivedSEEN TO BE BIRTHED FROM of JehovahDIVINE ITSELF; and therefore He also… Read more »

Just be aware that there are some scanning errors in the reading that confuse mediately with immediately – so in 7055 it says, “where there is no conjunction of the truth proceeding immdeiately from the Divine with the truth proceeding immediately (this should read mediately)…” similarly in 7056.2.

Here is the principle and task from these readings as I will be traveling on the 25th.

[2] When they heard this, as they had been in conceit on account of knowledges, they began to humble themselves.
Principle: angelic spirits instruct me, especially when I am in conceit due to knowledges; I need to humble myself.
Task: To work on being aware of my conceit, with God’s help and insight; to humble myself when I notice this.
To stay open to divine instruction and to love and serve my neighbour better in these ways.
