AC6811 extract The spirits of Mercury did this with greater skill and quickness, because they looked at the real things themselves, and did not delay over such things as are slow, and which confine and consequently retard the internal sight, as do all earthly and bodily things when regarded as an end, that is, when loved in an extraordinary degree. For realities to which earthly things do not adhere bear the mind upward, thus into a wide field; whereas merely material things bear the mind downward, thus into a narrow one. Submission: This principle is familiar to me when it comes to my morning journalling vs. absorbtion into daily life by the afternoon. During the past week of the task however, the Lord gently showed me that I can experience it in a new way in my day to day interactions with the world. In particular, by keeping higher motivations such as love to the Lord & the neighbour in mind, I noticed my focus switching from my own needs & concerns, to simple connections with my neighbour when out and about. This lifted my spirits during a difficult week for… Read more »

ACV9S8-Len #6804:1,2…”names never penetrate into heaven, but only what is signified by those who are named, thus the things themselves, their quality and their states, which are of the church and of the Lord’s kingdom, and which are of the Lord Himself. [2] And moreover the angels in heaven never determine their thoughts to the individual persons, for this would be to limit the thoughts, and to withdraw them from the universal perception of the things, from which is angelic speech. Hence what the angels speak in heaven is unutterable to man, and far above his thought, which is not… Read more »
Because covenant is mentioned often in the reading my task is to reflect on the relationship between God and Swedenborg as an example of a covenant operating between an individual and the Divine.
Submission: The title page of his last book has: TRUE CHRISTIAN RELIGION by Emanuel Swedenborg Servant of the Lord Jesus Christ Swedenborg saw himself as a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. A servant of the Lord hearkens to and obeys the Lord God (AE 6), and is one who performs services through uses. Swedenborg was assigned the task of preparing the way for the coming of a new spiritual era for humanity. This required a long and extensive re-education of the human race into the realisation that The Word has an internal, spiritual sense, and that the internal… Read more »

6804 [5] That a “covenant” denotes conjunction can be seen from the covenants made between kingdoms, and that by these they are joined together; and that there are stipulations on each side, which are to be kept, in order that the conjunction may be inviolate. Principle: The conjunction of the human race with the Divine itself of the Lord is through His Divine Human. Task: Pay attention and remind myself that everything that surrounds me has a spiritual correspondence. Submission: To look to the Lord as the Word brings conjunction. My comprehension and experience of the Word and the Writings is… Read more »
6804.8…’Putting the law in their midst, and writing it on their heart’ is endowing with faith and charity, faith and charity being the means by which the joining together…is effected. Principle: The covenant between the Lord and myself is effected by faith and charity. Task: Observe the moments when I remember LP and make a note of what is faith and what is charity. Submission: Over the last period, when LP and my task came to mind, I thought that perhaps the remembering itself was faith or ‘putting the law in their midst’. This did not require any effort on… Read more »

Submission For some time, at least during the volume 8 and 9 readings, there has been, and is, an experience of both anguish and loving wonderment, of abandonment and of conjunction – brought about through the tasks….often together, but not necessarily in the same timeframe. I’m sure I’m not alone in this. In the case of #6804, the outer life is in chaos (moving house!) and the inner life is being constantly fed and anchored by the struggle to engage with the idea of the Divine human. I had thought my love for the Lord was simply in the person of… Read more »

AC 6803. “And God heard their groaning. That this signifies aid, is evident from the signification of “to hear,” as being to obey…but when said of the Lord it denotes to provide and bring aid, for the Lord hears him to whom He brings aid; and from the signification of “groaning,” as being sorrow by reason of the attempt to subjugate by falsities.” TASK: Time to accept relief and take strength from the Lord. Watch for it. Acknowledge the comfort. And give Him thanks. Submission: I experienced the close to a long period of desolation in regard to my bewilderment… Read more »

Submission This was not the best task to choose, to try and eliminate person, place time and space while I am working to a very strict timetable to get everything done before we go overseas. I have been writing endless lists and crossing things off too. I am physically and emotionally exhausted and have had some times of anxiety about the trip. I have come to the conclusion that it needs to be a constant exercise because it is so easy for me to get pulled back into… Read more »
Another way I try to spiritualise when I hear bad news is to accept that all that bad behaviour and negativity is also very possible in me and it is only the Lord holding me back from heading in the same direction. This also helps me to be less condemning of the perpetrators.

6804.5 On man’s side the bargains or agreements that are called “a covenant” in the Word are in a restricted sense the ten commandments of the Decalogue.
Task: Look up internal and extended meaning of the Decalogue, be mindful of its application to life.
Submission: I have found a leaflet extending the meaning of the Ten Commandments and was particularly struck by the Tenth Commandment ..”if I have been unthankful for what I am, because of what I am not” opens up an enormous area to work on.
