GETTING STARTED #10

WELCOME TO THE PRACTICE OF THE WORD

Dear reader

This is the last post in the "Logopraxis: Getting Started", series to launch you onto your Logopraxis journey. The posts are designed to serve as both an information resource and a daily prompt to attend to your practice in a systematic way over the course of the first two week Session Cycle. The series contains a lot of information, of particular note, are the comments on the key principles that underpin the Logopraxis approach. The implications of these are not able to be grasped in a single reading so feel free to use the readings to support you to move through each future Session Cycle until the use of this approach for engaging with the Text becomes internalised. Even then, we still find we need constant reminding of the key principles Logopraxis seeks to instil to direct our practice. As someone said, "Old habits die hard", and this is certainly true of our habit of reading for information rather than for application.

Below is a link to an online post that is also available in booklet form called Logopraxis Points to Ponder. It is a series of short statements that you are encouraged to read on a regular basis. Some "points" may appear a little cryptic, others will be clear, but all are only really grasped in the light of our practice of the Word. They are statements born of experience and are to be read in the light of our Logopraxis experience. Variations of these, along with new points to ponder get posted periodically on Twitter and the Logopraxis Facebook Page so if you would like to receive these you can subscribe to either account and give the LP Facebook page a like along the way.

There is a range of resources available in The Upper Room, which is the website dedicated to all things Logopraxis. Materials include sermons and doctrinal presentations that are specifically focused on understanding the Biblical Text and the Text of the Heavenly Doctrine in the light of the practice of the Word and its operation within the life of the mind. There is also a range of reflections that can be found in the Post Archive, a number of which have been included in this series of posts, but there are others you may find interesting. There is a Logopraxis Newsletter to which anyone is welcome to subscribe to.

Some have asked how Logopraxis is funded. We are a not-for-profit initiative supported by The New Church in Australia and administered through The Australian New Church College. Because Logopraxis runs at a loss it is becoming increasingly more dependent on donor contributions to fund its activities. While no one is charged a fee to participate in Logopraxis we are extremely grateful for any contributions donors are able to make in support of the work it does. So if you find that Logopraxis is of value and would like to support it financially then please consider making either a one-off or recurring donation by clicking on the following link. You can also use the Donate link in the header area of pages in The Upper Room.
