I have felt the same way as what Erika described below, so I really hear where you’re coming from and am grateful you shared your thoughts so eloquently! I’m not sure if it’s a global theme effecting many people or just my season in life being early forties and grappling with the differences there. But I have struggled and felt completely lost lately, coming to terms with letting go of what my proprium had set up as being important all through my twenties and thirties and the drive that gave me to fulfil goals and then over the course of… Read more »

When the will, and so delight and freedom, lead him to bring forth good- that good leaves the womb and is born. Task: try to stay out of the way so the Lord can bring forth good. Notice what happens. The session was a low point emotionally in many ways. Time and the toll it takes on dreams and those we love was an absolute killer. A very long ride in a protracted state of loneliness birthed the following: I feel defeated right now about why I am doing in many things. Focussing on this experience of defeat in the… Read more »

AC4903:2 That the Jewish nation were in the external without the internal, and therefore believed truth to be falsity, and falsity truth.
Task: Can I identify states of mind where I am in externals and believe a false idea to be true?

4903…… For those people who are confined to what is external devoid of anything internal do not look on the internal aspect of the Church in any other way. They give the name falsity to that which is true, and the name truth to that which is false. 4906…….. Also, in actual fact good is spiritual fire from which spitirtual heat which is life-giving is radiated; and evil too is a fire, but from this a heat which is consuming one is radiated. Anyone who turns his attention to this matter and reflects on it can plainly see that the… Read more »

ACV6S39-Judy #4912. ‘And said, She is more righteous than I am’ means that no joining of what was external to what was internal existed, only what was internal to what was external. This is clear from what has been stated above regarding the Church among the Jewish nation and within that nation, in 4899, namely that the Church existed among that nation, that is, what was internal was joined to what was external, but that no Church existed within that nation, that is, what was external was not joined to what was internal. For if a Church is to exist… Read more »

4906. Anyone who turns his attention to this matter and reflects on it can plainly see that the good of love is spiritual fire, and that the affection for that good is spiritual heat if he reflects on the question where do man’s vital fire and heat come from, he will discover that love is the source of it; Unless man’s vital fire and heat came from that source he could not possibly have life at all. CL 89. That in these two is implanted from creation an inclination to conjoin themselves into a one, is because the one is… Read more »

“Tamar thy daughter-in- law , Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.” 4900, Vs 24-26. These two statement kept jumping out at me and “fire” and “burning” in particular have been reoccurring key words with impact, or actual events going on around me for the last few weeks. I feel it has something to do with a cleansing process of old negative, mechanical states, habits and influences. So for me, I am building a task around bringing more awareness and attention to see what they are and observe when I accidentally engage in them. Nice to be back- Honor

4906. For if he reflects whence man has vital fire and heat, he will find that it is from love; because as soon as love ceases, the man grows cold, while the more he is in love, the warmer he grows. Task: Burn incense as a reminder of the reality that Divine Love is supreme among all loves, as it is unconditional love that creates a vast universe and beings who can participate in it as loving and useful people, and rejoice in its presence and live by it. Reflect on the role of love in my life’s journey and… Read more »

4912. And said, She is more just than I. That this signifies that there was no conjunction of the external with the internal, but only of the internal with the external, is evident from what was said above (n. 4899) about the church with the Jewish nation, and in them, namely, that there was a church with that people, that is, the internal was conjoined with the external; but that there was no church in them, that is, the external was not conjoined with the internal; for that the church may be in a nation there must be reciprocity. Task:… Read more »

No 4901 “And it came to pass about three months after.” [2] That times signify states is because times do not exist in the other life. Spirits and angels have no thought from times but from states and its progression.

The task asks that I notice “states”, and in hindsight, how little “time” is considered when in “state.” What are the thoughts from these states? What do the “states” show about my loves?

4906[2] the Lord taught them, but abolished the representatives themselves, because most of these had respect to Himself; for the image must vanish when the form itself appears. [3] The Lord therefore set up a new church, which should not, like the former, be led by representatives to internal things, but should know them without representatives, and He enjoined instead only a few external observances, namely, baptism and the holy supper. Work focus: I feel myself being asked to seek to know the Lord intimately and not as an abstraction; to KNOW His presence in our world and in our… Read more »

This is Harald AC 4911: “People who are governed . . . by loves that are filthy – that is, by avarice and by self-love accompanying this – are unable to raise their minds to a level where truth is seen from a viewpoint other than themselves.” Task: In me? My task is to beware – be aware – of “avarice [which I interpret as love of the world; material possessions; comfort] and by self-love accompanying this” getting in the way of my ability and willingness to see internal spiritual truths that speak to my need to clear my mind… Read more »

4903, end of section 1. … no one can see from the external alone whether a thing be false or true, but only from the internal. There must be an internal sight which shall judge of those things which are of external sight, and in order to do this the internal sight must be wholly in the light of heaven; and it is not in the light of heaven unless it is in faith in the Lord, and from this faith reads the Word. TASK: to notice my judgements, whether I look from external or internal things. And are there… Read more »

WORK FOCUS: As I proceed with legal matters, read the highlighted teachings from 4911 (see below) with internal sight in faith in the Lord and keep them conscious as judge of those things which are of external sight (4903), all notions being taken from the things that are and exist before the senses such as dust, noise and lights (4901.2) As the week proceeds, REMEMBER the Lord, His love for the WHOLE human race, what reciprocal love might look like, and regeneration. (4904.3) REMEMBER that spiritual fire or heat which produces life becomes a burning and consuming fire with the… Read more »

4904. To be produced when said of the church denotes the good which is produced by means of truth….. good is produced when truth passes through the understanding into the will and from the will into act.

Task. Do I live the truths I receive ?
